Arkansas State Fair Posts Record First Sunday Attendance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK (Oct. 14, 2019) – Attendance at the Arkansas State Fair set a first Sunday record when a crowd of 55,595 showed up for the state’s largest event. That was slightly ahead of the previous best first Sunday attendance of 55,493 in 2011 according to fair officials.

This year’s total attendance through Sunday was 163,267. That compares favorably to the 2018 total of 103,392, when the fair was battling rain during last year’s event.

General Manager Doug White was excited about Sunday’s attendance, and said the weather has been a tremendous factor.

“Our Sunday attendance was a new record, and followed a very strong Saturday. We couldn’t have ordered up any better weather than we’ve had this weekend,” White added. “We’re up about 58 percent over last year’s attendance.”

The general manager is optimistic the trend can continue during the week.

“We have some rain forecast for Tuesday, but the rest of the week looks ideal,” stated White. We have a bunch of great concerts coming up that should draw big crowds so I believe attendance will continue to be good.”

The 2015 state fair set the all-time attendance record of 473,106 over ten days.

The 80th annual Arkansas State Fair continues through Sunday, October 20.
